On June 22nd, Circa Brewing Company hosted a Drag Brunch to celebrate their can release of “Passion and Pride IPA” - a brew to honor Pride Month. A limited brunch menu, but the performers were colorful and lively!
Circa, a microbrewery in downtown Brooklyn, is a great spot. They have an American fare menu including (but not limited to) brick oven pizzas; and a fully stocked bar, including flavored liquors they infuse themselves. So it’s a good place to bring a drinking companion who isn’t a beer drinker.
I started with their Hippy Hoppy Saison. I’ve had it before, and remember enjoying it, but this time it came off as much hoppier than I remember. For me, it didn’t have the peppery taste I enjoy in saisons, and skewed more towards a farmhouse ale.
Next up was their pilsner, which was incredibly drinkable and went down very easy. I also had an Orange U Glad pale ale, which was actually quite tasty and delicious without being blatantly fruit forward.

The release, their Passion and Pride IPA, was a delicious, juicy IPA with notes of passion fruit and blueberries. It’s interesting to mention that the majority of Pride beers that I’ve had this year, from Brooklyn’s Stonewall IPA, Coney Island’s Pride 365, Five Borough’s United by Beer, and this one, have all been New England IPAs.
Circa has always been a fun spot, and we highly recommend checking it out if you're touring some of the amazing breweries we have here in Brooklyn.
