We love beer. We love to travel. We want to tell you about it.

Where do I begin? What is this first post even about? Chris and I had this brain baby to start a blog about beer, travel, marriage, and everything in between about a year ago. Social media makes it so easy to dive into something like this, but what prevented us from getting started was making sure we had the right name. Something easy to remember, simple, and vague enough that if this blog took a different direction, the name transfer too. After a few brainstorming sessions, we finally came up with “Crazy on Brew” - simply by replacing the word “you” in the Heart song “Crazy on You”. To our excitement (after multiple fails), this title was not taken, not even a hashtag.

Wait, so what's this about?

I'm going to level with you, this is mostly going to be about beer.

Often when we travel, the first thing we do is see what is the local beer scene. Are there local breweries or tap rooms with rare beers? We want to find out and tell you about the places we find. We use and continue to use the app Untappd, but want to start reaching people on different platforms.

"There's always money in the Banana Stand"

I can tell you the first time I used Untappd: it was a 2015 birthday trip for Chris down to Shenandoah Valley for the weekend. We stopped at a restaurant called Soul Mountain Restaurant & Bar for lunch. It was there that I checked in a weizenbock called "Banana Stand" by South Street Brewery in Charlottesville, VA. I gave it 3.5 stars and earned a "Newbie" badge.

Since then, I've checked in 701 beers. This is not a lot. I've unlocked 826 badges.

Chris has checked in 2,985 beers. He's unlocked 1,866 badges.

This weekend we will be traveling to Untappd Beer Festival: Level 1 in Charlotte, NC. This is hardly our first beer festival, but it will be the first one we write about. Stay tuned!
